Black Velvet painting becomes tote bag
Friday, May 5th, 2006
Welcome to Craftworkbook’s opening day. Finally it has taken a baby step to being a real website. For now, craftworkbook will just have this blog, but the plan is eventually there will be more content.
This first entry is an idea for how to bring new life to an old painting. I took an old black velvet landscape and created a tote bag. A few technical notes if you decide to try this–use heavy thread and a thick needle in your sewing machine. I used needle which was rated for denim. Also, I managed to construct this with out ironing the painting. I imagine there may be a problem with the iron and the acrylic paint. Luckily the painting was stiff enough to fold into to place.
